## Geek Speak 🤓
## Decoding ingredients
-
Passiflora Extract
The passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) hails from North, Central, and South America. Natives from the Americas have long used the passionflower as a natural sedative, promoting relaxation and restful sleep. This flower yields an extract that creates calming effects, especially helpful for minimizing anxious feelings and sleep difficulties.
Oxidative stress driven by free oxygen radicals in the body negatively affects sleep quality and can even lead to sleep disorders. The unique combination of antioxidant compounds like quercetin, kaempferol, and luteolin found in passiflora extracts also lessens reactions to stressors and supports healthy inflammatory responses. By addressing excess inflammation at its source, you can target your sleep problems and support healthy brain function.
-
Melatonin
The hormone melatonin plays a critical role in regulating your sleep–wake cycle. As the sun sets, the pineal gland in your brain releases melatonin, priming your body and brain for sleep. As the sun rises in the morning, melatonin production falls. By supplementing with melatonin before bed, you can better prepare for deeper, more restful sleep.
Studies show that melatonin is especially beneficial for those with irregular sleep schedules and those experiencing jet lag or insomnia. Melatonin also interacts with melatonin M1 and M2 receptors in your brain to promote deeper REM sleep. If tight deadlines and late nights are interfering with your rest and recovery, the melatonin found in Suspend may help.
-
Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine HCl)
Vitamin B6 is an essential nutrient — meaning your body can’t make it on its own. This vitamin plays a key role as a coenzyme in neurotransmitter production. As chemical messengers, neurotransmitters help synthesize hormones involved in sleep, including melatonin and serotonin. Suspend was created with your body’s natural sleep processes in mind, giving you an extra boost of melatonin to achieve a more restful night’s sleep.
-
Sodium (as Sodium Citrate)
Sodium citrate provides ample sodium for maintaining your body’s acid–base balance. The sodium found in Suspend provides the ideal environment for passiflora extract, melatonin, and vitamin B6 to reach their full sleep-enhancing potential.
